Season 1964-1965
The 1964/65 season
(text by Frank Buck, added by Michael Hofstetter in January 2022)
We received the following brief recap of the mid 1960s by Frank Buck, which we highly appreciated:
Dear CUBbC,
I am not sure how you found me but thank you for the email. The attached is from 1965. Our committee back then consisted of the Captain, Secretary and Treasurer and we might even have combined Secretary and Treasurer one year. The Cambridge team consisted of 6 Americans, 2 from England, I Australian and one player from Egypt. Oxford had 11 Americans and one English international. As you can see, we lost. We also lost in 1964 but won in 1963 (but I no longer have the results).
1966 was interesting. I watched the game. Oxford included one of their Rhodes scholars, Bill Bradley. If you do not know him, I suggest you check him out on Wikipedia. Yes, he was am all-American basketball player who went on to play for the championship winning New York Knicks and eventually became a US senator.
